Just pick it up... BIG improvement in the shifting. If you're having shift issues go have it done....

"WE" are not flashing them... the Dealer is. New flashes are authorized by :ford: as they are issued and assigned to your trucks VIN by the Oasis System or by complaint directly to you Dealer.

Yea, ain't it the pits that if you don't specify a complaint that the dealer can verify the flash won't show up on your VIN's OASIS report. And if it's not in one of those ways, the dealer does not get paid.

oh, but forgot to say that because of this forum, we know what to complain about that can be verified by the dealer....

"we" is me. :) I am a dealer tech and haven't seen this one yet. Guess that's what happens when you are buried with 6.0's and 6.4's have had time to check for updates :)

Done this AM - really smooth...didn't even notice my shifts on the way home. Very early still as I know its "learning" but so far so good. Third flash since purchase and it has gotten better each time. Last flash was the most significant improvement and this one appears to refine it a bit...so far.

Cool... You are a Tech... I am familiar with those times when your plate is so full of yesterday that you are not able to catch up on what today is doing. So I hope the works slows enough for you to catch up but not enough to cut into you income load. Here's hoping that we all get through this without too much delay or difficulty.

Well the dealer near my house called - "Said they can't flash if I dont have a code, or they can't reproduce the problem" Hmmm.... WRONG ANSWER!!!

Called the dealer in town where I purchased it. Talked to the service manager. He said he was aware of the problem, and the new fix, and that I should bring it in and they would flash it no problem.

So, it totally depends on who you call. I plan on going in next week so we will see if it helps my shifting issues. Will post once it is done. Or if I have any problems.

Just did the 350 yesterday...seems smoother, no hesitation between 2 and 3rd slip. RPMs up just slightly before going into gear..not as much hunting as you are trying to get her into 6th at the lowest speed for economy. Too short of a time, have about 100 miles on it.. but will have over 1000 miles in next week on this and report back. Jeff

I had mine done yesterday also. When I called the dealer earlier this week, they were asking why I wanted it done if I wasn't getting any codes.

To which I replied: "The transmission is confused most of the time, and besides that, if all the trucks are now leaving the factory with this PCM/TCM calibration, why on earth would I NOT want it???"

Needless to say, they got me right in at lunchtime yesterday, and I can tell a difference in the "crispness" of the feel. It shifts confidently and smoothly now.

These dealerships that want to bust your balls, road test, and argue with you really frustrate me. I don't have the time or the inclination to put up with that kind of customer service. If I tell you there is an issue, there is an issue, and just apply the fix Ford made available to you. Why Ford wouldn't want updated code on a device made to be field updated is a mystery to me. Wouldn't you want your customers to be happy and running your best efforts as a baseline???

Because they want to get $$$$$ PAID $$$$$
and :ford: has to authorize it before they get it.
That and the fact that they don't like the idea that a Customer who gets online and finds these things out... knows more than they do about THEIR product.

I hear ya.. I called the dealer I bought my truck from and the guy told me he wouldn't be able to get me in until thursday. I said even if its just a simple procedure that takes 45 min? He started going off on me saying "well we aren't just going to throw an update at it, we have to diagnose it and figure out whats causing it to shift wrong." He was a prick and I was pissed.
So I called the dealer right by my house and they said oh yeah we know about the update bring it in monday we'll get you taken care of... I dont get people sometimes
