Both of my batterys are leaking acid out of the top and have corroded the brackets that hold the batterys. The Dealership is telling me that this is just normal, due to the extreme heat that the engine produces. The are refusing to replace them and all they want to do is cleanup the brackets. Has anyone else had this problem.

This is NOT normal. You could have one battery that will not accept a charge so the system thinks the batteries are down, over charges them and boils them over. Or you have a faulty charging system that is over charging the batteries and boiling them. Did Ford check the whole system out? If not, you need to find a new dealer!

Just talked to the dealer and they said that they checked out the charging system and it was ok. They also cleaned up the brackets and the top of the batterys. They would not replace the batterys and told me that they could not doing anything else. I would have to live with the batterys leaking.

My truck is a 2011 and it has 31,000 miles. The dealer told me to drive the truck for a week then bring it back and they will check it out again and hopefully will find the problem. I had to really complain about the batterys leaking or they would have just sent me on my way. The batteries have leaked from day one.

Not normal, I've driven and towed with mine in North Texas through our 40+ days of 100+ deg heat and my batteries and terminals look brand new. I call shenanigans on them, just hoping you'll say ok and go on your way. Say let me borrow 2 new batteries for a week and see, they want to troubleshoot the heat then that's a good way to prove it.

Or by them letting you test drive a brand new truck for a full day, a couple hours of driving should generate the heat needed to make the batteries leak....right? At least from what they say.

They probably did the standard "check to see if it is charging" tests. This is fine as long as it does not charge ALL THE TIME. It is only designed to charge the battery as needed to maintain the proper level of charge. When it over charges (too many amps or past the point of full charge) it boils the electrolyte in the battery and that causes it to boil over or leak out of the battery. This is NOT normal and should be addressed by a Technician who actually knows what he/she is doing. Not a quick lane manager who is more knowledgeable about how to get rid of customers that look like they are about to cost the dealer some money with their issues.

PM Cory for help with the Dealer.
