heater hose is cheap; otherwise they sell menders at the parts store, sized by I/D. I forget if they're 5/8" or 3/4", I want to say 5/8" but I've been wrong before.

I think you're right, I seem to recall installing a 5/8" flush & fill tee last year in one of my heater hoses. That's the one I always wind up using, I have a drawer of the 3/8" and 3/4", I've never owned anything they fit.

Sorry for the triple post. I just want to do a quick fix for now. The hose from the block just rotted away so that cannot be reconnected. so i need a quick bypass temporary fix.

Are you saying the metal nipple rotted out? If so, I looked at mine, The one on the front below the timing cover appears to be 1/2" NPT (pipe) thread. I can't see the one on the PS head, but it feels like it has a hex head of the proper size for 1/2" pipe. You should be able to find a 1/2" NPT to 5/8" hose brass nipple at any good auto parts or hardware store. You might need to use PB blaster or even a little heat to break them loose. Use pipe dope when reassembling.

Rotted heater hose

The rubber hose coming from the nipple on the right side (passenger) side is the short one that is bad and to short to cut off and reconnect. I am trying to find the diagram or advice for a quick fix.

You can just get more hose and a nipple and extend it so that it will connect.

If you want more meaningful advice take a picture or two

You could also disconnect the long hose from the heater core and loop it to the outlet for the short hose. You'll lose heat, but unless you're in the southern hemisphere...

What do I do with the short hose that I disconnected? Do I plug it?

Doesn't really matter, it should just be dangling from the heater core. The whole idea is to use one hose to maintain flow from outlet to inlet on the engine. This will get you up and running again.
