I'm in the Los Angeles area and not too happy with my visit to four wheel parts wholesalers. Does anyone know of a good place to get rims and lift kit in the L A area ?

For rims I would look at Centerline. They are close and you can buy direct from them and possibly get "an insider deal" /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif I did and am completely happy with my $225 each chrome forged wheel. Here is a link to their site. Check out the overstock sale section. You can get a good deal. And just to let you know, they make Pro Comps forged wheels.

Regarding my feeling about 4wheelparts
I had my amp research folding steps put in by them and the salesman told me they had worked on a bunch of the 08s already this was the beginning of April. Yeah Right.
So I was planning on having an onboard compressor installed along with the steps and when I came to pick up the truck they said they werent sure where to install them?? We discussed it before I dropped off the truck so I didnt understand why now it was a problem. After all they had worked on a bunch of o8s already, right?
That and just the over-all tone of people working at the shop was as if I should be thankful they let me do business with them. Shouldn't it be the other way around??

Makes sense, I wouldn't want them touching my truck if I had the experience you had with them. I don't have one of their stores anywhere near me, so my only dealings have been thru mailorder, which has been great.

Don't get me wrong, I would order parts from them. I just wouldn't let them do the installation! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

It is a hike for you, but I had a great experience at The Tire Store in Lancaster, about 90 miles from you. I had a Skyjacker 2.5" level kit put on parts and labor was 320.00 out the door. I don't see a lot of people with Skyjacker on here, but I've got 9K miles on them and love them. Check some of my picks.

They have done a ton of trucks around here and have been in business for a while now. They also do a lot of trucks from the Irvine Auto center dealers. They are competitivly priced as well.

Good Luck

Eliminator Motorsports in Santee seems like they have a good thing going...

I work for a wheel company, and we sell wheels to a lot of different off road companies. The closest one to you that I would recommend is 714 motorsports. They are in Westminister. If you don't mind driving a little farther, California Super Trucks in San Bernardino is also very good.

Again, if you don't mid a little drive, try Custom Motorsports in Corona and then there's also White Motorsports in Riverside, right across the freeway.

Avoid Outlaw Offroad!!!!!!!!!!

I had a very negative experience with Outlaw Offroad. I had them install a 4.5" Donahoe lift and a RBP exhaust on my truck, and they screwed up the install really bad.

They damaged the following beyond repair while doing the install:
- DR Pan Rod Bracket - they smashed and bent it with a sledgehammer
- Two Bilstein 7100 shocks - they sliced through the reservoirs with a cutoff wheel
- Two DR shock hoops - they sliced through these with the cutoff wheel too

There were other issues too:
- the Alignment was so far out of whack that my truck was almost undriveable.
- One of the tow hooks on the front of the truck was missing when I went to pick up the truck. They said that it was missing when I dropped the truck off. I found it in the parking lot. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif
- All of the welds on the new RBP exhaust were leaking due to poor installation. I didn't realize this until later. I now have minor heat damage and soot all over the bottom of my truck. I also had to get an entirely new exhaust system after only a year. Outlaw wouldn't warranty the exhaust.

It took 23 days to get the damaged parts replaced. During this time, my truck was not usable. I also had to pay to have the truck aligned at a different shop.

Basically, my experience with Outlaw Offroad was an ordeal and a nightmare. Their prices are excellent. So are the prices at 4-Wheel Parts(Another bunch of hacks). But, you get what you pay for, I guess.

If you are looking for a good shop, I highly recommend Off-Road Unlimited in Burbank. ORU is further away and more expensive, however, they are extremely good at what they do. I just had them do some custom fab work on my truck, and I am extremely impressed with the level and quality of service I received. Again, you get what you pay for.

Good luck with your lift!
