What a POS, it looks like a shot gun hit it and it is pocked with rust. Nice that a 50K truck has a $100 bumper. I want to Rino Line it with a tinted coat the same color as the truck. Has anyone done this? I just ordered a Fabtech Dessert Bar and want that coated also, it will hold my PIAA 150s (586,000 candle power) I finally found one that looks good and fits the X. I will take pics when it is installed. How about the Rino Line, anyone tint the white to match a color?

I don't think you can tint rhino the same color as your truck. We just started spraying it where I work and the color selection is very limited. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif We did spray other trucks though with Permatech and did what you are wanting to do and it seemed to work just fine. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Line-X has a ton of colors and is the "smoother" looking finish.

A friend just got a new Chestnut (I think it's called) King Ranch and when she had it Line-X'd, they used a color that matched the tan trim to a tee! Beautiful truck!

It comes off today, I am going with the chip guard like on the bottom of rocker panels. It is a color over system and should give a little cushion to rocks. It has to be better than this half a$$ job. One place said I should put the plastic film over it...what an idiot. I suggested he put that over his face a suffocate himself /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif With the chip guard I keep the shine and the metalic look, all the spray on people said I can't do it so this is the next best way unless I make them black.

Unless you have seen the latest technology in clear films you should keep your "opinions" to yourself! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

jjtproperty is correct;
3M makes some excellent clear films. Have used on M/cycle headlamps. Optically clear and as I remember meets DOT for Lamps. Great product also for M/cycle gas tanks where pants legs (@ knees)may damage paint. Don't think it would do to good an bumper with compound curves. I think the rocker guard stuff will be better but will look like orange peel. I myself have always thought a full size ameican pickup should have chrome bumpers as they are the hardest to damage. They of course can scratch but not as easily as a painted bumper.

I replied to someone else that was looking at a clear injection molded cover and this was the product I was talking about. The shops that specialize in it said they can custom order the die cut sheets for it and that even if they can't get it they could make it work. Like I posted in the other one, I saw it on a couple of Lexus' that are slammed and see a lot of freeway use in SF Bay Area and they looked great. Also, a few years back 4WD and Off-Road did a special on a truck that they line-x'd and painted over...don't know how it held up but it was bright orange and I saw it in person at the old Dick Cepek store in Garbage Grove CA. It looked very nice and solved the issue of "tinting" the goo to match.

FYI
