My hubs on my 05 dont seem to be locking up when in auto mode. This happened last night when I was backing up in 4 lo. I assume that 1 of the hubs isn't locking and with the open front end it makes it totally unlocked. I should be able to activate the 4wd and try to turn the axle shafts to see if they are locking correct?

Are these hubs vacuum activated like the older one? My 2000 truck needed a new seal installed. Luckily this one is still under warranty.

Yes, the hubs are vacuum actuated. Are you sure that you actually had it locked in to 4 Lo? If you don't follow the procedures as outlined in the owner's manual then you may not lock it in properly......complete stop, gear shift in neutral, foot on brake.

Yes I had the correct procedure. Once I got out and manually locked the hubs, it worked fine.

You say yours only lasts about 30k? Do you use your 4 wheel drive a lot? Or does lack of use seem to be bad? What kind of conditions do you drive in? Dusty? Im just trying to figure out why so often. I have 66k on the truck in my sig and they seem to work fine. Any ideas?

yes when hauling sleds in the winter, but not much during the summer

no not more so than average, actually mostly highway.
