I locked myself out of my truck. So instead of calling a locksmith or borrowing a coat hanger I called my wife from my cell phone and had her press the unlock button on her set of keys holding it next to her phone and "viola" my doors opened......... This, of course, sounds like BS initially to anyone with a clue. So I tried it myself. I went to a point in my house where the signal doesn't reach my truck in the driveway. Then I had my wife stand close to the truck with a phone and called from that point in the house and guess what? The doors unlocked.

BUT...

I tried it again the next day while I was at work with my wife calling from a phone at home, and it, of course, does NOT work.

I think maybe the phone may have helped work as an antenna or something, and perhaps extended the range of the remote a little bit while at home, but it certainly does not transmit the signal via phone to wherever.

If you have any electronics knowledge at all, the fob does not do a "NOISE" signal, it is RF (Radio Frequency) that wont go over the air waves from a phone,, infrared wouldnt either,,such as your TV remote,, but will do a longer distance line of sight!

Try it again and hold your cell phone no more than 1 ft from your door. It works!!

I had a guy at work believe this too... I called him while he was in the parking lot next to his truck and I was in the office next to the parking lot. I ran up to the closest window while he was holding the phone out towards his truck...bingo the doors unlocked. You should of seen the look on his face. He then ran back to the office and we were all waiting for him /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif It was funny...

I did it from NYC, but I used my laptop the battery is much stronger. errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrhhhhhhhh actually I used the Internet to unlock my truck

I built a fire and threw my old BGF's on it, then got a blanket and held it over the fire removed the blanket 3 times put the blanket back over the fire removed one more time and waaalaaaa my doors unlocked. I guess smoke signals /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smokin.gif work better then radio wave or cellular signals. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif
