I found a low mileage 2012 biodiesel 6.7L f250. What should I be aware of on that year model ( engine, tranny, biodiesel quirks), etc?

I haven't test drove it yet but it's a decent price, very clean and local at the ford dealer

Was 2012 a good or iffy year for the scorpion engine?

I have one, an F350 bult 2/2012 and purchased in May 2012.

110,000 miles of which over 65,000 miles were pulling a four horse trailer,,,loaded lightly but the trailer itself is a head to head which makes it heavier than most.

Zero problems

I maintain mine by the book with a dealer mechanic who has never made a mistake on any of my trucks and I started with him sometime around 1980.

A good mechanic is 99% of the battle along with going by the book.

I have had one sensor go bad, temp sensor in the exhaust regen system, but I drove it over 100 miles pulling that trailer.

You hear stories of people getting stuckl with a bad temp sensor, but I learned that if you have a reasonable amount of fuel you can just keep on going.

If you refuel or let it idle for really long periods, the computer knows you are trying to beat the system and will shut you down.

Courtesy of the idiots in CA.

I really like mine and may drive it until 2017 models are available.

That would take it close to the 200,000 mile mark.

And me close to the 90 year old mark.

I must correct one thing I posted.

My memory played a trick on me.

On the 2012, you can cheat the low DEF sensor as I described but you can not cheat the temp sensor in the exhaust.

I had the DEF deal on my 2012.

On my 2008, I had the high temp malfunction and that stopped me dead in the road.

On the 2008, I had parking lights and nothing else.

On the 2012, I am told that it will still idle and allow one to operate the heater or air conditioner as required.

Sorry about the earlier post.
