looking to buy a van

hello guys, i am about to buy a E-350 SD cargo van, and i'd like to know what years to avoid, either 1999-2001 with 7.3 liter or 2001-05?
What problems should i expect to find on these years, any recalls? any problems found in the engine compartment? suspenssion, body, chassis? anything will be helpful.
I need it for my window film business and it is require for me to travel long distances, carry extended ladders and/or scafold. Which of these two engines (7.3 or 6.0) are reliable on diesel? and looking to get a biodiesel kit in the future.
Any opinions I will really appriciate it.
Thanks.

CTC,

You can do the Mod Squad on the 7.3L engine, the sky is the limit.

I have a 2000 350 Super Duty PSD 7.3L extended with a conversion package, it's like a rolling livingroom.

The vans are just fine stock, but you can get so much more from the van with a few mods, 4" exhaust, chip or tuner, guages, K&N Air Filters to start.

I use the Superchips tuner and I get an instant 60-80 HP just from that.

IM so happy to own a 7.3L engine.

I have a magnet on the engine oil-oil filter, and when I install a new AirDog Filter system I will install the magnets on them as well.

super strong oil filter magnet and after the oil was changed the guy at the shop cut it with a sawzall and you could see all the sludge and metal stuff inside. The magnet is so strong you cannot pull it off with your fingers. You need to screw in a special screw on one side to force it up about 1/4" plus so you can get a screwdriver behind it. No need to worry about someone stealing it, without the screw/tool it is stuck on for good.
