I currently have a '97 CC PSD dual rear wheel, 2wd truck. I am looking for a 4x4 Superduty, only willing to spend up to $20k as that is all I can afford at the moment. I have been doing some reasearch, but figured I'd get some words of wisdome directly from you guys.
I want a crew cab, 4x4, and a PSD. For the most part those are the only requirements. I love the dually, but figure a SRW is more logical at this time for me. What would you recommend though? The 250 or 350? Why? Only difference the towing capacity? I currently use my PSD to tow a single vehicle trailer with my jeep on it, but plan to have a two car hauler at some point to haul two jeeps, bumper or 5th wheel.
What do I need to look for in these trucks? I know some trucks have issues with the brakes wearing wrong or continuously making noises. Plus I know the unit-bearings on that d50 go out if you put any type of lift on the truck. (I've replaced a few for friends) What mileage should I look to stay under? Any bugs I should be aware of?
Typical mileage? I only get about 15 mpg unloaded from my truck now, would love better mileage if possible.
Regards,
Justin
