Since truck was new [2005 f250 sd 4x4 crew short bed 6.0] at every oil change coolant was 8 t0 12 oz. low. The ford tech told me this was normal for this model,so i let it go . Truck has always run well but the coolant problem has slowly worsened, a little more coolant at every change.
Ibrought truck to a oil change chain where i know ford mechanic moonlites for oil fhange and trans fluid/transfer case change, and coolant level was a half gallon low.Ford man told me that none of this is normal...
On my way home after idling at light i tried to accelerate and had no power, but plenty of white smoke out exhaust breifly then returned to regular power. This has continued for 2 days now especially after a short time at low idle
could this be a trans overfill problem, since the two were so closely related or coolant that has finally seeped through somewhere

any help would be greatly appreciated
Tom

ps : warranty just exp.

That right there is the problem!!
You probably have an EGR cooler leaking!
Look at the pic of the inside, it frequently fails and leaks coolant into the intake (heavy white smoke).

sounds like EGR. My buddys 05 has done it twice.

Quiet idle, dead pedal, and lots of smoke from a stop usually equals hung open EGR valve. But you shouldn,t be losing coolant either if your keeping it at the min level.
