While I've decided a Cummins w/ a 6-speed manual is the only truck for me, I'm happy to see so many 6.4s on the highway. I must have seen 10 or 12 of them just today northbound on I-25 south of Pueblo. I was headed south and I swear even across 100 or so yards of median I could see every driver grinnin' ear-to-ear /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif

I have seen a few here, but lately, and for last year or so, I have seen Many, Many more Dodges, where before it was Fords.

I'm in Sioux City, IA and have also noticed and increase in Cummins diesels around here. I have an '04 350, SRW 6L and am looking to get out of it. (Just had a hell of a time with lack of boost going to and returning from a prairie dog trip to South Dakota.) I drove an 350, SRW, FX4, 6.4 yesterday and really loved it. My dealer has a Black 350 Lariat coming in any day that will probably end up in the garage. I am not all that excited about the fuel mileage that a lot of the guys here are posting however. Makes no sense to me why a motor has to be redesigned to be EPA compliant but burn more fuel doing so.

Here in CT I have seen ONE or TWO on the road. Thats IT. They just started showing up at dealerships a few months ago, but there is hardly any on the road. I just took a trip down to Mass (near the cape) and I have seen NO 2008 model trucks at all. Most were the 2002-2005 superdutys and a few dodges here and there. The new 2008's are super rare around here.

Saw 11 in 150 miles on Friday mostly towing toy haulers and boats. Saw one at the shell station when we were leaving town. Two guys in a 350 crew cab with a wake board boat, BBQ and two kegs in the bed. I thought the truck was cool enough until I got walked up to it and saw all the cargo.

There is a construction contractor doing road work on I-75 north of Atlanta and south of Macon, GA and most of their new trucks are 07's (diesel)/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smokin.gif and the 08's are gas burners /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I think it's simple economics. I talked to a guy who worked for the school district as a mechanic. They run a lot of 15 passenger buses on a GM cutaway van chassis with a 350 V8 gasser. When one starts acting up after a certain mileage, they just pull the engine out and pop in another Goodwrench reman crate motor. As I recall, he said they buy the motors in quantity for around $3500 ea and he can change one out in an afternoon.

I know some of you have realized this but all super duties have the badge on them. From a distance hard to distinguish between a diesel and a gasser.I have made that mistake once or twice

I saw 7 6.4L's in just 3 mins in Laporte Tx this morning! Oh wait that was at the dealer. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif Seriously I have been seeing a lot more of them around lately, usually 3-4 a day, maybe a slow start but with the price of diesel & the trucks themselves more people may be waiting before taking the plunge? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

The worst thing I've seen lately is a kid at my daughter's school drives a loaded black '08 F450 4x4. The kid beats the living snot out of the poor truck and absolutely stands on it from dead cold, makes me want to slap his parents!

I stand on the throttle of mine but I wait until normal operating temperature is reached before doing so.
