Hi to all,
The time has come for me to get my act together and hook my 2000 7.3 up with an Exhaust. Now my question is, what's the best exhaust for the price that's going to give me that nice loud "Growl" sound? Also do I want to go with a straight pipe verses a muffler? Set me in the right direction, any info is apprecieated. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif
I also saw the post titled "Is this exhaust worth the cheap price? " from Kenny_in_texas... is that a good system? I mean the price is sure right... Thanks for the help,

Want a cheap exhaust, get a MBRP aluminized exhaust from the vendors on this site and you will get the deep growl sound and a quality exhaust for very little money. Want something a little better then get the SS version.

As far as I can tell LOUD is not an option with a powerstroke, my exhaust has the stock downpipe /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/vomit.gif into five inch straight pipe, it doesn't even approach loud unless I really get on it, I'm considering adding a muffler because it only sounds decent at higher RPMS's this of course is only my opinion /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif

My wife say's she can here me coming home from miles away some times. Mine was not loud until I got rid of that cat that was always around and stock down pipe. Its now 4" down pipe then 4" all the way out the side "before" the rear tire.(custom made) With it straight piped I can shift (6 speed) and get the coolest sound when I get out of it to shift into the next gear.(not stall or surge) Never sounded this way with a muffler or cat. I have only heard 6 speeds make this particular sound though.

got to agree with steve on this. I ve got the ss version with the muffler. the muffler can have two different sounds depending on which way u face the exhaust through it. Get rid of that cat on there

The MBRP is the best sounding and its the loudest. Straight piping is not as loud as you think it would be, and in my opinion it sounds like a senior citizen on the crapper.

I have a 4" Magnaflow on mine with the muffler removed and I think it sounds awesome! A good bit louder than with the Mag. muffler, especially when you romp on it.

Black_Diesel,

You're seeing a low price but you're not getting a muffler packed with a ceramic blanket and satinless steel wool, welded hangers where possible and a one piece tail pipe for looks and durability. For just a few dollars more you can get that and have a top flight system from MBRP. Call us if you have any questions etc.

[/ QUOTE ] I would have to agree with this statement.
