Can anyone tell me what is happening with my truck? My boost gage shows very little boost (1 – 5 at best) and makes that popping sound that sounds like when your on the gas hard and then let up. It happens when I start to pull away with moderate acceleration. If I get on the gas hard it just makes that popping sound a lot and just wont go. This happened about 4 weeks ago on the way to work. When I went back out to the truck for lunch it was fine and has been for the past month. Yesterday it happened 3 times to me. I pulled over, let the EGT’s get down to 300 and then shut it off, started it up and it would be good again for about 10 minutes one time and then about an hour the next time and then again good for about 5 minutes. I checked the codes and nothing pointed to this problem except a false cooling fan code PO528 which refers to the possibility of a low boost problem. It suggested flashing the PCM to some newer version. Had the PCM flashed but this did not resolve the problem. It happened again after being flashed.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like a rubbed wire or unconnected harnnis. Have you dealer double check the wireing and also wiggle them around with the motor running and the codes cleard. The low boost makes me think your turbo may go south soon as well. But wireing can do that as well.
