bought a nonrunning '95 powerstroke to use the 5 speed in my '86.
what compression should a 7.3 have with 220K miles? all have around 340 except the one with 70! 70 went to 120 the 2nd time around. any way to tell if it's rings or valves? would like to have more power. would it be better to rebuild the 7.3 or get a Banks for my 6.9.
thanks

If you plan on putting it in your 86 You have alot more work ahead of you as far as Installation goes Mostly wiring harnesses PCM,IDM,.Has/can be done but it depends how much you want to do work wise Not exactly a small project.Definately easier Getting a Package from Banks or ATS for your 6.9

there is two ways to check if it is rings or valves, put a little oil in it and test again if compression goes up rings, pump some air in the cylender when it is on the compression stroke and see if it comes out the intake, exhaust or ccv vent spike481
