2015 F250 6.7L Platinum, got it new in May, ~12K miles now.
I am getting a message that says the coolant level is low. Haven't touched it since factory new and the level is heavy inch over the "full" line on reservoir.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Are you getting a check coolant message or is it a low coolant message? These trucks have a maintenance reminder (check coolant) to check the quality of the coolant that comes on around the mileage you have on yours. If it is actually a low coolant message did you check the levels on both primary and secondary cooling systems?

You are correct Sir. The actual message is to check the coolant additive.

Disregard. I am now finding lots of posts on the subject. Sounds like it is just a reminder and the message can be cleared.

You should not disregard the message. It is there for a reason (preventative maintenance). If he is an inch above full, I question why. There are 2 tests that are supposed to be performed each time it tells you to check it.

If there has never been any coolant work or coolant added, then it should not be contaminated which is 1 of the 2 tests. The 2nd test will tell you whether you have to add some additive or not to bring it back into the correct ranges.

This is not a "just ignore it" message. You can buy the strips yourself and test it without paying the dealer but it should be done.

I thought the same thing, went to the dealer and bought a gal of anti freeze. They said if the low coolant message comes on, bring it in because it should never be low. Also said that the message most likely was the check additive message. So I went home and started the engine, this time I had my glasses on. Guess I wasted $22......
