I have an '06 F250 Club Cab (full four doors), short box. Can anyone tell me approximately how many gallons of fuel I have left when the 'low fuel' indicator comes on? I couldn't find it in the book.

Thanks!

When mine chimes, I find that I have approx. 10 gallons left. Sounds like a lot left, but I would rather be safe than sorry.

Thanks! I was hoping I could make it to the 'good' gas station, vs. using the less frequently used one in town. I think I can make the ten mile jaunt. I typically don't let it get that low....but, sometimes it happens that way - especially when you live out in the boondocks!

I have an 05 & 06 Long box and it's about 10 to. I wish it would come on at about 5 though!! About fifty miles after it comes on the truck will start bucking. The most fuel I've been able to put in after that is 33 gallons that's on a long bed. My 01 comes on at about 5 and I drive it down to about 3 gallons.

I have an 06, standard extended cab with a short bed and 29 gallon tank. Mine seems to come on with about 4 or 5 gallons left. Came on last night, I put 25 gallons in it guess I may have driven 10 miles or so with it on.

NExt time it comes on, get to the gas station ASAP, then see how much it holds and subtract it from your tank size....it will give you a better idea.

2000 X (44 gallon tank) and '03 F250 shortbed (29 gallon tank) both had about 4 gallons left when the chime came on. I put the TransferFlow 46 gallon tank in the pickup, and now it's over 10 gallons left when the chime comes on. Seems overly agressive but like someone said, better than cutting it too close!

29 gallon (rated) tank. Chimes with 4-5 gallons remaining. I have never gone more than 50 miles after chiming just to be safe.

My 06 comes on and the computer display shows 50 miles to empty. Once I drove it for about 20 miles after the light and put 31 gallons in my 29 gallon tank.

Your tank is 29 gal but will hold approx 31-32 gal topping off from completely empty.
Mine is 39 gal and when I bought it new it took 40.9 gal to top off.
My light came on after I left the dealership with 50 miles showing on the overhead and getting about 13.5 mpg thats about 3.7 gal left.
My thoughts why would anyone take the chance to wait until the light comes on, or the engine chugging and spuddering to fuel up. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

While towing yesterday, mine chimed in and said i had about 32 miles left. That was ok, the gas station was just 10 miles up the road. As I enterd a one lane construction zone, I Gradually started losing all power till the truck went to idle then died. So as I manuverd around all of the orange barrels in a zig zag construction zone with no power steering or brakes, I managed to get out of the zone and coasted to a side road. I checked the gauges again and they said 27 miles to empty and the fuel gauge showed about 2 needle widths above empty. As i waited for the wife to pick me up, i kept remembering that commercial that was out a few months back where the wife pulls up in here minivan to get het husband that ran out of gas on his bike. I put in about 3 gallons of fuel and she started up rough and smoothed out. Drove to the filling station and put in only 23 Gallons till fuel was spilling out the neck. I am starting to think that my pickup tube might not be in properly.

Here is what the Owner Guide says:

The DTE function will display LOW FUEL LEVEL and sound a tone for
one second when you have approximately 50 miles (80 km) to empty. If
you RESET this warning message, this display and tone will return
within 10 minutes.
