So, unfortunately almost all of us have to run low sulfer diesel fuel in our trucks now which really cuts back on the lubricity of the oil and eats up our engines...sounds great huh? To compensate for this limited lubricity many of us use additives in our fuel. I would like to know which one YOU use and why.

I've used Stanadyne Performance blend in the past when I got a good deal on it, and it's probably the best, but now I use Power Service because it's cheaper. I use the grey bottle in the summer (Diesel Kleen) because it has more cetane booster and the white bottle in the winter because it lowers the pour point to prevent gelling.

I've been running low sulfur fuel for a long time & never saw any of the problems that were predicted. Now with the ULTRA low sulfur fuel, I still don't see the problems the additive people say are going to happen.
I don't use any additives and never have. 369,000+ miles on my truck & never been opened up.Use dino oil, changed with filter at 10,000 mile intervals.
Do what you think is right. I know I put around 400,000 miles on most of my vehicles before I give to my kids.

Keep this in mind:

Sulfur is not a lubricant. Its what defines crude oil as "Sweet" or "Sour". Sweet crude has a low sulphur content. Sour crude has a high content.

Sweet crude is cheaper to refine into goof fuel, as it takes less processing. Its the processing that ruins the lubricity of the fuel.

Gulf coast oils tend to be sweet crude, so low sulphur fuel made from that would still have decent lubricity, AND would meet low sulphur rules.

East Coast oils tend to be sour and they process the crap out of it. This kills the natural lubricity of the oil.

Technically, the fuel we buy is treated to bring the lubcricity up to spec, but we can only guess if thats true or not.

Bio-Diesel is my poison of choice.
