The A/C is messed up in the EX. It started a couple of days ago when I went out to start it up. It started up and sounded normal until I hit the auto A/C button and it sounded like someone had tied two cats together by tail. Hit the button to turn it off and the noise went away, but as soon as i push the button it starts all over again. It only does it when the compressor is engaged. I was wondering if the clutch can be replaced or does the entire compressor. No matter what I gotta get it fixed soon, the wife is 7 months pregnant and not happy at the moment, which I dont blame her. Thanks guys

I don't think it's the A/C clutch. It sounds like the Compressor might be at fault. The belt could be stretched and not gripping the clutch when you engage it, but I think the compressor is FUBAR and when you push the button, the clutch is engaging and the compressor isn't turning. What your hearing is probably the belt slipping across the clutch pulley.

If you can talk your wife into it, have her sit in the Ex and start it up. Then have her push the button just long enough for you to watch the compressor with the hood up. That way you will know what the problem is.

You could also turn off the A/C, disco the clutch plug and then put 12V across the clutch solenoid contacts at idle and watch it happen. make sure you do it at IDLE and not at higher RPM. Wear safety glasses.
