Magnaflow claims there is is a 29hp gain and 49ft torque gain with there 5" DPF back system. Has anyone put this on there their truck yet? Does it sound any better? can you feel a power difference?

I find this very hard to believe. The DPF is by far the greatest single restriction in the exhaust system. You can calculate mass flow rates at rated torque and hp levels - how much restriction improvement is required to get the claimed results?? How much does the DPF back stock system account for in the first place??

Is the claimed increase measured at clean DPF or fully loaded DPF? Why?

I think that best results would be found at clean DPF flow rates where the DPF restriction is lowest. As soon as soot starts to build up I think whatever is behind the DPF is no longer the major restriction and will not account for the same dyno results.

I call BS on this and urge manufacturers to come clean on how 'DPF back' systems are tested vs. soot load on the DPF and why. If advertised results are only seen at clean DPF levels then that means maybe 5% - 10% of the total duty cycle ???? I guess you need to regen right before you want to mash the pedal, huh? Should you pull over and let regen complete before trying to pass that slow semi?

Caveat Emptor - buyer beware. Show us the data - all of it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

My suspicions exaclty I think the system does little more than make the stock outlet look better.

How in the world is 5-6 feet of tube going to improve hp and torque that much? Plain tube, not much begger than factory. Can't see how possible. Maybe better to advertise it as highly polished high grade stainless steel for looks only. Can't see how this short tube would gain that much. Starting to sound like the "Tornado" guys.

I installed one using the supplied muffler(they supply a muffler delete pipe also). Sounds slightly different, runs no different, looks cool though. 2008 F450 auto w/4.88. AFE intake seemed to make more of a difference is sound and power.
