Well for starters, I am not at all impressed with the braking system on our diesels. The frontal weight must not be factored into the system. I drove an old beat down F450 tiltbed today and I could (had to) lock all 6 without having to put my entire body on the pedal. My truck on the other hand just slows down.

The pedal effort is much less being it was not run by vacuum. How much do you think it would cost, and what would have to be modified?

hey....you didn't read my enitre IC post "over there" did ya? I went ahead and put in a hydro off a F450 durring the refit. you will need pump, both pressure lines, hydro return line, hydro, and one master cyl. When hitting the wrecking yard or the parts store, use the reference year of 1989 to 1991. These years keeps the costs in check somewhat. Your f250 master won't fit because the bolt pattern is too narrow. lastly, after the install, make sure everything in your cab is tied down before you stand on the brake pedal because whatever isn't is gonna launch towards the windshield.

I read somthing about a year ago but did not have the desire to pursue it at that time. If you have to take a guess, how much would it cost to go with new stuff because I don't think I will be able to get used around my area.

I wouldn't waste the time and money on a hydro master cylinder. F450 has 4 wheel disc with huge pads. thats the biggest reason they stop so well. Spend your money on turning your discs and drums and new pads. Vacuum brakes do fairly well compared to hydros when you lose the belt to either the vacuum pump or power steering pump. Just my opinion, I have both, good luck.
