I'm looking to buy a 2001 F250 SC LB 7.3 with the 6 spd manual, and I was wondering how hard is it, and if at all possible, to covert the truck to an auto. I know quite a few people convert from an auto to a manual but I've never really heard of anything along my lines. Thanks

OBS: possible. Requires pedal box, master cyl for clutch, harness, trans, flywheel, steering column, and ecm flash. The trans hump works fine, as the floor pans are the same.

Newer trucks 99+:
For the manual truck, the floor pan is taller than the auto, so you are fine there. You'll need similar year trucks, a new or flashed pcm, auto trans, different transfer case (or input shaft), flexplate, new master cylinder, wiring harness, torque converter, and a new steering column. If you were going auto to manual, your floor pan needs to be modified. (read: $$) Or you could cut a giant hole in the floor and have the shifter stick through... < ******* rig that sucker. If it were me, I'd leave both shifters.

EDIT: I thought this question was familiar HAHA

I've got a flex plate, aluminum spacer that goes between the engine and trans and collar. If anybody is looking for parts.

My advice would be to buy an auto and then take it to Brian and sink the money into his rebuild rather than buying a manual and going that way. There are few enough of the manuals around as it is.......leave that one for someone that wants the 6-speed.:icon_wink: I searched for over 6 months looking for the right truck with a manual.
