I know that guys are running 40psi boost with stock turbos on these, but I am wondering if they cut out at some PSI? I know the superduty's have a wastegate that opens at some number, but do the OBS. What does the EBPV do? If people remove it, what was the point on Ford putting it on their in the first place? Does the EBPV act like a wastegate and releases the preasure once it gets to a certain psi or something like that? Do I have to gut the EBPV if I plan on going anything bigger than stock? Thanks

OBS do not have wastegates.

The EBPV is a device to help the engine warm up faster. Folks ofter either disable it, wire it open or remove it and seal off the holes for the shaft. Folks sometimes use it as a cheap exhaust brake as well.

Highest boost I have heard of on a Stroke is MadDog - if I recall correctly his final Power Stroke would finish the 1/4 mile somewhere around 96 psi of boost but his engine was HEAVILY modified (12.5 in the quarter mile). He has since gone to Cummins in his Ford. Limit seems to be the exhaust temps.

Alright thats what I wanted to hear. I just basically wanted to make sure the turbo didnt cut out at some point from to much boost. I realize it can blow up from too much boost, but I guess i wont worry about it then.

Boost levels above 40 you will need head studs, probably an O-ringed block instead of head gaskets, bottom end will need reinforced and much more. There is a lot that goes into this kind of engine.

Above 30lbs sustained is not good for the turbo.

My gauge goes to 35 and I peg it sometimes with no ill effects.

I can hit 40 with mine, but agreed anything sustained over 30 and you're on borrowed time. I drive my truck pretty easy most of the time, anything over 30 is always brief.
