PURCHASED THE MBRP TURBO BACK EXHAUST KIT. THINKING ABOUT INSTALLING THIS WEEKEND. HOW HIGH OFF THE GROUND DOES THE FRONT END NEED TO BE TO GET THE DOWN PIPE OFF THE TURBO AND THE NEW 4" PUT ON. DOING THIS WITH OUT A COMMERCIAL LIFT, JUST HYDRALIC JACK AND STANDS HOPEFULLY. THANK YOU.

Raising the truck /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
I hadn't planned on doing that personally. I don't think you need to.

I did mine with the truck on the ground. Granted my truck has 3.5" lift but that shouldn't matter.

No lift on mine and did it without jacks, although I did make extensive use of my creeper and a 3lb hammer.

Just cut the downpipe infront of the tranny cross member. No need to lift the truck at all for any part of the install. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I was told to remove the transmission crossmember so the down pipe would not have to be cut. I think it is just 4 or 6 bolts. Don't forget to support the tranny with a jack.

You do not need to raise the truck but you do need 2 people to install the new downpipe. You need one under the truck and the other person working from the top. That was the hardest part for me. I cut my old downpipe in front of the crossmember and again behind the muffler to remove the factory exhaust. I would not have bought the MBRP exhaust if I still wanted the factory one. Hope all goes well.

Having two people would help, but you can do it by yourself if you have to, just support the downpipe from the bottom. I wedged a metal ruler under the downpipe, resting on the frame rail and the transmission support.

Once you have the downpipe supported from the bottom, go topside and finesse the downpipe into place.

Glad it went in OK...

BTW...in the Internet world we live in, writing in all CAPS means you are shouting, plus it makes it very difficult to read.

Ya might want to take off your Caps Lock... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
