where is the best place to install a water temp sensor on a 99 f350sd..mechanical..

There is a plug on the water pump that most of use to install our coolant filter, better yet install the coolant filter and on the filter housing is two extra ports many have used one of these for a temp sender. Why do you need another water temp guage? the factory ones are pretty robust.

where do you get the filter housing..

I use the 3/8"NPT fitting on the thermostat housing, myself..

The stock gauge tells nothing of degrees, just a range..Good move on installing a gauge, Bob Riley sells the coolant filters kit.
