Alright guys, I'm trying to track down an annoying vibration that I can feel in the floor board. Most people suggested u-jount or the mid-shift/carrier bearing...ok, so I decide to check them out. While I was underneath the truck (driveshaft still installed) I was trying to move/rotate the driveshaft by hand to see if there was any play in it. While I was doing that I noticed that there was some movement at the carrier bearing....so I took a closer look. What I found was that the rubber "isolater" around the bearing was allowing movement. It appeared that the rubber has broken down and was allowing the driveshaft to "sag" in that spot. Is that normal? Could this be my cause of vibration? On a side note, all the u-joints "looked" fine...no grease leaking from anywhere. I still have to remove the driveshaft to further inspect the driveshaft.

Thanks in advance! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Some slight play in the carrier bearing is normal, but if yours is excessive and the rubber has broken down, then it's probably going to need a replacement.

When do you experience vibration? Take off or at higher speeds?

I've experienced the vibration anywhere between 30mph-70mph.....not during takeoff though.

You dang maybe farmers lol, been to the brown jug with that truck or maybe silver star and ran through a corn field one night and threw something off lol. I just noticed where you are located I'm real close by and the driveshaft is around $600 bucks, I don't know how much the carrier bearing is to replace but probably a lot less so I see where you are coming from. Give me a hollar if you have any questions 734-652-7639
