She has been loosing power over the last several months, and I am quickly running out of Ideas. I knew my old '85 with a 6.9, but there were no computers in that truck. (I wish I still had it) It really does sound like a gasser in really great need of a tune up. I have to take off from a stop light in first geat with no load, and can't spin the back tires on sheer ice. I don't use any oil, and I can't get it to blow black smoke, and am only pushing about 10 lbs of boost at best. I hope someone else out there has some ideas, because my next one is to rebuild my injectors. :icon_rolleyes:

The only thing she does well is start any time I want her to.

Starving for fuel? NO black smoke and way down on power.... tells me maybe the fuel pressure is very low. Or I would look there first. If the air filter was clogged badly there would be more smoke. Check your fuel filter, and fuel pressure. Then check back here....

well you have one of the best year powerstrokes and lets get it running like it should.

If it starts right up than all the vital things are working.
You could have a simple harness bad under the valve covers and causing a injector to miss fire. this is a very common problem. The easy way to diagnose these engines is with a scanner such as Autoenginuity and it will show if there is a mis fire. If you can get someone to scan it it will be big help. If no scanner is available then you can use OHM meter to check the connectors on the valve covers.

I can run the fuel pressure up to as much as I want, ( at least up to about 80 psi, or so), but she don't like that one any better. I changed filters recently, I don't have a scanner available, but know how to run an ohm meter. What kind of resistance should I be returning through my injectors?

Still havn't had a chance to break away from the honey do's, and check those injectors, but on another note, Since I bought the truck a little over a year ago, she has never blown one puff of black smoke, and has always had a funny smell to the exhaust. I have always been convinced that this was a fuel delivery issue, and have completely replaced the fuel system with aftermarket parts, and a little of my own inginuity. I am running an electric fuel pump that will push up to 120psi AND push 65-85 gph. I am running a water seperator filter before the pump and a 10 mil filter after the pump with 3/8" rubber fuel hose on the supply side and 5/16" hose on the return side. No more Quick Disconnect fuel lines.
When I first bought the truck, you could feel the turbo set you back in the seat a little bit, not as much as I had anticipated, but I figured there had to be something wrong, and have been dumping money into her ever since.
I will try to get to the injector test tomorrow, but I don't think that I am going to have any of them that are giving me screwball readings.
