I am one of the unlucky 6.0 owners who have suffered from poor mileage and strong exhaust odors, a post reflash issue. However with no Factory fix available yet the service Mgr at my local Ford dealership suggested an additive " CTANE BOOSTER AND PERFORMANCE IMPROVER" it's available at the parts counter and costs 8 bucks a bottle. The bottle lasts for 4 fill ups. The first tank reduced odors about 75% the second tank has nearly eliminated it and it now smells like a normal diesel. My mileage has improved by 1 mpg which will more than cover the cost of the additive. I'm happy, my familly will ride in the truck again and until Ford ha a fix for the problem this is a temporary solution that works !!

That may be your permanent fix. Ford/Navistar has designed the 6.0 for a certain cetane level in the fuel. If the fuel in your area is low/marginal then the additive may have made the difference.

My Ford dealer is only charging me $6.55 tax included for that stuff. See if you can get them down on their price. On a side note I believe it is imporving my mileage as well.
