Here's the scoop.

ebv valve was leaking oil. took the turbo ped. off and cut the valve off, had it welded (thanks to the search button, found threads & pics). Rebuilt the turbo while it was off & replaced the fuel pump while I could see it.

It ran pretty decent for about a day although I could hear a sharp smacking sound. like an injector?

Then it started missing badly, missing with no smacking sound & blue smoke horrible, (used 1 gallon in no time flat) but would run pretty good as long as I kept it above 1800-2000rpm(smacking noise returns at that rpm, quites down as boost builds). Injector kicking in?

Scanned it, cylinder 7 balance fault. Swapped 2 injectors, scanned it again, still cylinder 7, so it's not the injector.

Compression test on #7, only 90psi. Leak down results, can't tell where the air's going, but my compressor can't keep up.

Would having the turbo pedestal off have anything to do with my problem?
Any insight appreciated.
This is my daily driver. Motorcycle ride to work this morning was a bit chilly.
thanks.

thanks, hadn't thought of that, I was going to have it smoked. Made a phone call and I've got a laid off mechanic buddy that has a bore scope. He's coming down tomorrow evening. Don't think it'll be good news, but atleast I'll know something.

have a dealer pull codes from the IDM using ford diagnostic equipment.
run buzz test multiple times, if the #7 doesn't perform well on all atempts, see below.

a generic obdII scanner (even the bidirectional ones) wont do this.

could be a a failing #7 final drive transistor in the IDM.

could also be wiring, wiring connectors.

sure the miss is only on the #7?
is it "felt in the seat"?
what diagnostic euip?

on second thought: 90 psi, blue smoke, copius oil burn all sound like you have a hole in a piston or bad cylinder and ring wear.

on the leakdown how fast did pressure drop when supply air was removed?

sounds like something fell into the intake when you had it apart.
