On my way to moab next week from S. Florida. Anyone out there from Utah? Going to go out there and see how the big trucks can handle the 4 wheelin out there. Any sugestions or ideas from anyone that has done it let me know. Cant wait to see how the PSD does on that slickrock.

i would love to see pics upon your return. i would imagine with our long wheel bases you might be getting high centered some and dragging rear of truck up /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smokin.gif steep inclines.... but i think you will have a blast none the less.

Was out there last May for a full week with the Jeep, the long wheelbase of you C/C will be to your advantage on some of the long steep climbs but I am afraid the departure angle will hang you up at times. The trails we did where Posion Spyder, Golden Spike, Gold Bar Rim, Hells Revenge, Kane Creek, and Moab Rim (WOW dont miss that one)... Take pictures and let us know how you do.. Have fun.. Chuck

Don't miss arches NP while you are there. There are several jeep trails from the west and north of the park worth checking out. Pretty, and not a real challenge, but they get you into the park. I had no real trouble on those with the 2wd LS, tho I'm sure the serious trails are another story. Biggest potential problem with the LWB is dragging the center going over drop-offs and deep washes. Have fun!!!

Thanks for the trail info. I am going to try as many as we can. We will be there for about 4-6 days. My kids are reved up about goin 4 wheelin in something other than mud. Should be diffrent. I am leaving tomorrow and taking the laptop so I will keep you informed as to how the LWB is doing on the jeep trails. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

I go every Oct, though I wheel my Jeep, not my truck. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Moab is a great place, the scenery is like nothing else you'll see. The combination of good wheeling and great scenery makes it a real winner. Your long wheelbase will be a big help on the ledges....that you can do with the long overhang, be careful that you don't waste your bumper. I've found tire pressure is critical if you're giving it a good try on the real steep climbs, but you probably won't be able to get that big truck up to them. The temperature also makes a difference, you can climb stuff at one temp that you can't at another, which I haven't experienced anywhere but Moab.

If you can get your long truck up Moab Rim, that is one kick ass trail both for the challenge and the scenery. Cliffhanger is also a great one, and ends at a lunch spot on the cliff overlooking the Colorado River. But, I understand that the mine is using the trail for a construction project and the trail is temporarilly closed. A good run for a partial day is to Dead Horse Point in Canyonlands north of town, then taking Shaffer Trail (which is a dirt road) which switchbacks down the cliff and ends down in the canyon with good looks down to the river, then ends up downriver from Moab with an easy drive back to town. The switchbacks could be a little tight for your long truck, but you should be able to do it.

Ask if you can run Hells Revenge with your truck. I think you can, I know any stock shorter wheelbase rig can run it. It is the premier slickrock trail, and has some really steep climbs and downhills, but nothing (on the main trail, anyway) that is super challenging....other than the pucker factor. It also has a great place to stop for lunch where you can walk out to the edge of the Colorado River canyon.

Wish I was going......but I'll be there in Oct.

Hope you have fun out there- not to switch gears but where in south florida are you goin from? I live in Sarasota. Maybe I can get some info on some decent diesel shops in this area. I am new to this, but I'm hooked. Plus I'd like to know how hard it would bo to put SD seats in mine. Thanks. Moab will probably be an awsome experience-Just don't get hung up to hard.. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

i LOVE Moab! was just there in May. of course i run the trails in my Land Cruiser. i agree that Hell's Revenge would be the best option in a full size. it's a fun trail, and not as much to get the tail caught on. have fun! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
