Hey Guys:

My 18 year old wants a banks kit for his graduation present. I have dabbled a little with my 2000. His is a:
2003 7.3
70,000 miles
4x4
XLT Sport
Crew Cab
Leveling Kit
315 BFG
3.73

I need advice on exhaust,gauges,intake,chips, 4.10 gears etc. The truck will also be used for part time towing(12-15000 lbs). Can a chip be programed to maintain the 90 MPH max. speed? We are looking for the best and most cost effective mods.

I would check out ITPDiesel.com and look at there package deals.

You can get an intake, gauges, 4" exhaust, and a custom burned adjustable chip from DP Tuner

That's pretty much the same setup I'm running and I gaurantee he'll love the set-up.

There are several sponsors that will set you up a good package. And it will be cheaper and way better than any of the banks crap. Long island diesel has some pretty good packages.

If you want a good reliable setup with lots more power and fun to drive than stock, I recommend the following.
AFE Stage II or Tymar Intake
MBRP 4" exhaust
Dp-Tuner custom burned chip
ISSPRO gauges from Diesel Manor
Factory Tech or BTS valve body
ATS turbo housing
ITP or Dieselsite boost relief valve/regulator
and being young, don't be freaked out if he trashes the tranny. A Torque Converter can cost 600-1400 and a whole BUILT tranny is from 2800-4000
..and yes Jody (at Dp-Tuner) can limit top speed with the chip.

I just picked this up from LIPD as a package.
MBRP 4", DP-6 pos, AFE stageII, ATS compressor housing, auto-meter guages w/3pack pillar pod. Great price and service.
I would buy from LIPD anytime. Everything came quick also.
I called BTS and added a Valve body to complete the package.
Installing the chip and valve body this weekend.
You are 1 generous dad.

Agreed, I try to buy from every one of the sponsors of TDS. I just bought Mag-Hytec rear diff cover and new Auto meter gauges from Jeremy. Awesome guy, stayed on the phone bullskatin' for 30 mins about PSD's. High suggest http://www.longislandperformancediesel.com/

Thats pretty nice you're gonna buy your son that. My dad wants to de tune my PSD. He says the BTM is the only thing that was going on there but I'm still working the mods equals MPG. The only way I'm talking him into the (I know it's not DP)Superchips 1705 is because it has a code reader. Oh and I'm buying it off ebay cheap too.

Congrats on graduation.....Now PLEASE take it easy on that tranny. You have the infamous mechanical diode in your tranny that ain't worth a ........ So do I, but I am 56 years young!! You don't want to buy a $4k+ tranny anytime soon.
