Hi, all-
2000 Excursion 7.3L PSD, 4WD
I think I might have multiple issues on the right front end.
1. Intermittent scraping/grinding noise that has gotten progressively louder, is not happening when the brakes are pressed. Happens at any speed.
I'm wondering if it could be the bearing or a brake pad issue? How hard is it to get to the bearing?
2. Also hearing an intermittent thumping sound that doesn't seem to be related to the scraping sound & seems to be happening when there is vertical motion.
2 NOTES:
1. I'm not sure if the front bearings have ever been repacked or replaced.
2. I just installed new shocks, but the old ones were original and had 300,000 miles on them. Not sure if that could have caused an issue with the leaf springs.
I'm going to slither underneath to take a look around before I pull the tire, but would appreciate any insights, information or advice you can provide.
Thanks!
Chris
