I have a 04 5.9 and I tried to do an oil change today. After I was finished I started up the truck and it was pouring oil out of the filter. I lost about an gallon of oil in probably a minute, as soon as I started it up. What did I do wrong? I am thinking it might the filter that I bought?

You might want to look for a Dodge specific forum, this is 99.99% for Fords

You'll probably need to remove the filter and see if either there was no rubber/o-ring gasket, a damaged one, or the old one stuck to the housing. Cheers!

For some reason I didn't even comprehend what was posted.

Yes, get another oil filter and pull the one on there off. And as Patrick said check for gasket material where the filter attaches

especially, sometimes the old gasket / ring stays on the engine instead of coming off with the old filter.
