I've noticed lately I'm not building as much boost as I have in the past. Sometimes when you stomp it, there seems to be almost two stages. It takes off good with a hard initial pull, but seems like sometimes it almost hits a second stage and the boost jumps up even more without pressing the pedal farther down. Which is where the performance was before. I have not changed anything with the truck but it seems like sometimes it will make more boost and power than others. You don't have to change your foot position on the pedal, it will go up to a certain boost and then out of nowhere it takes off again, almost like a two stroke. Has me stumped. I can't find any leaks or anything that would be changing and I can't determine when it is going to do it. Anyone have any ideas where to start looking. Tymar intake(new filter), TS Performance chip, Banks power elbow, and 4" exhaust. It has plenty of power but those few times when it does this it has a whole lot more than normal. Also seems it may be running a little higher on the pyrometer than normal too.

mine does this, and has for 2 years. does it on any chip setting.

one thing I have figured out is that it makes no power below 1700 rpm. it is fuel delivery related, like the pcm is not calling for more fuel until 1800 rpm. i know this becuase it makes no smoke. No boost either, but no smoke.

There are a bunch of us wiht this problem with no known solution.

Shutting the engine off and restarting resets it, usually, and it will then take off and go.

Trade your TS chip in for a DP 80hp "econo" chip and you won't have that problem.

Also, you might try changing out your throttle position sensor (go pedal) and see if that helps.

Mine is not like a total loss of power. It just seems like a two stroke and just recently started doing it. I can't get it to do it so that I can determine what RPM or what occurs to make it happen. It's strange and I'm not quite sure it it underpowered most of the time and I don't notice or if just for the certain right conditions it has a lot of power. Just feel like I"m losing out on something and can't figure out if it's my imagination or not. Too hard to re-create the effect. Kinda seems fuel related, like it kicks in all of a sudden. Its like every now and then it almost seems like i get a whole new boost of power for no reason.

yeah, i've got a 4 position dp tuner. all settings.

it is NOT the throttle pedal. Fully floored, partially floored, equals no go.

Sounds like it's lugging, then unlocking the torque converter to me. I wouldn't be suprised if it isn't TC related.

Are both of you on the stock TC? Mine does something similar on the stock, sick, weak TC.

Mine is stock. I guess that could be true if the converter unlocks, it would let the RPM's go up a whole lot and give the appearance that the truck is really pulling. I can't really remember if I could feel it as much as see it on the tach and hear the difference in the engine. I'll have to keep an eye out for that, it's a possibility. I've never noticed it before, hope it's not going out!

I see DRMiller100 has a 99.5 6 speed like me, so I kinda doubt its the TC for his case.

I have a similar problem with my truck. Just seems low on power most the time, then some times it seems like it has tons of power. I'm convinced I have lost most of my low end power. When I first installed the 60 hp DT tuner PCM about 9 months ago I could easily get my turbo to surge , especially in overdrive. Now I really have to put the throttle to the floor to get even a little turbo surge, if it even happens at all. Something isn't quite right. Feels like it isnt getting fuel, or the HPOP isnt putting out enough pressure. Also the throttle used to be extremely sensitive with the DP tuner-almost scary, but now it feels stock.I might reinstall the stock PCM to verify i haven't just gotten used the extra power and throttle with time. I might even have Jody retune the PCM to the 80 econo, just to see what happens.
