I have been hearing rumors about this, but I really didn't believe them. This could be really complicated, as GM currently assembles Isuzu F series and gasoline NPR trucks, and Navistar is a partner in 'Blue Diamond'. Then again Isuzu just bought property for a big new plant. Could it be they are anticipating that GM will no longer build their trucks? Is Isuzu going to build the GM medium duties? In any event, I have read that GM is looking for someone to build the Topkick and Kodiak, but they will continue to design and market the trucks. What could it mean for 'Blue Diamond' if GM partners up with International?

Confusing stories. read one and it infers they are selling out- lock, stock and barrel. Read another one and it comes acress that the only thing they WON'T do, is build the truck- Navistar would do that- although unlike the Ford deal which is a JV, Iternational would be "private labeling" the trucks- just like GM currently does for Isuzu with the conventional

By the way, recall a while back a bit of a pissing contest on annual numbers? According to yesterdays Wall Street Journal 06 numbers as follows:
1. Ford, 65,000, 2, Int. 61,000, 3, FL 58,000, 4 GM 41,000, 5 Paccar 11,000, 6 Isuzu 10,000

Those are approximations as they used a bar graph. I would also bet it was class 4-7.

The story I heard is GM is supposedly committed to marketing medium/heavy trucks, they just don't want to build them in their own plants. I am still wondering about that mystery plant Isuzu is building- is it to build the trucks that GM currently builds for them, or is it to build Isuzu's trucks AND GM's. I am also hearing 'Blue Diamond' is going to be dead after 2009, but no idea how accurate that is. BTW- those numbers sound right if they include class 4-7.

Chevy Trucks and Ford Trucks with International (Navistar) engines, now wouldn't that be a crazy one???? Nowadays, most of the transmissions and axles are produced by other companies, so essentially you'd have the same trucks underneath with different cabs.
