Will a TDE1 6 position TS Performance chip work in a PCM calibrated for NAW6? I want to try it for diagostic reasons. If it will work and fixes my problem (Misfire under load)I may just leave it that way. When a 4 page chip is burnt for whatever code, dose that completly change the PCMs programming? Just thinking out loud and trying to be carefull.
Thanks,
David

Thunder, The TDE series is the recommended upgrade over the naw series for automatics, you'll like the glow plug logic...only calls for glow plugs when needed, tc stays locked better on deceleration, only downside I've seen is lower rpm shifts into 3rd/od @ gentle throttle. The code in the chip completly overrides the pcm stock code when installed, but reverts back to the original when the chip is pulled...can't figure how it might help with a misfire, but you'll like the tde1 programming /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif

IN EDIT: after re-reading your sig. your gonna change the pcm right? Is that how your attacking your misfire? makes much more sense to my ol thick head /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif good luck with it, hope it cures your problem....

So the question for the programmers is...
When installing a chip, does the PCM become just a host and data path?

The TDE1 PCM I'm running was a NAW4 that I had flashed to TDE1. I want to install my original PCM which is still NAW6 with the TDE1 chip just to see if maybe there is some kind of glitch in the PCM causing the misfire. The misfire is only after the the engine is hot and over 1/2 throttle at lower speed (ie.accellerating). But yes the main question is will a NAW6 PCM act as a TDE1 with chip programmed as TDE1.

David, you've obviously eliminated a couple of potential problems chasing your miss in the fact you've already changed the icp and the ipr...random thoughts and problems I fought through....what oil are you using? Bean has asked me this when I was picking his brain for insite into a slight miss/shudder I chased for a while...Are you running an hx crossover hose? I discovered I had air trapped in mine, removed it and my shudder was gone!!....are you getting any oil into the valve cover harness connectors. a hot glow plug pin/pins from a bad plug could let hot oil into the connector. What shape are the female plugs on the icp wiring? if you ever installed a 10k resistor the traditional way the wires inserted into the female pins could have stretched the pins and you could have a bad connection... just somethings to be on the lookout for......
