Im on a long road trip from portland oregon to mobile alabama , i have a juice attitude on my 99.5 F350 crew cab dually , i am also towing a 28' enclosed haulmark on this trip as well ............Today i was riding along and my EGT alert went off cruising about 75mph , so i backed off and it kept giving me an alert , so i called onstar and got directions to the nearest ford dealer from me and ofcourse they are closed on the 4th of july , so now i am in a motel room for the night waiting till tomorrow for ford to open and look at my truck... now my question is this what would cause high EGT readings and could it POSSIBLY be the Edge Juice electrode in the exhaust manifold has gone bad ? The Edge is about a year old and UNTIL today i have NEVER had a EGT Alert ....

Please any info would be greatly appreciated

P.S. i watched all the other guages and oil pressure was good and temp was down , just the egt temp

Do Not let them Reflash the truck. Even if you take out the programmer. I had mine checked for codes and it will not accept ther programmer now. Make it clear they are not to reflash or update the computer!!

I would disconnect the Juice Attitude and run it stock. I would doubt you are really getting that high of EGTs and stock it would be VERY unlikely.

Im sure you are familiar with the Juice , i have it set on 0 which is stock and have had it set on zero (stock) the whole time on this trip , so basically i am just using it for guages , the truck never acted different so im kinda scared to take the tuner off because then i wouldnt be able to monitor EGTs .... what is so crazy is the EGTs actually spiked from 450 straight to 2100 , when normally the EGT would gradually increase whenever throttle was applied ...and as soon as i let out of it boom back down to 400 .... this is why im kinda leaning toward the EGT prope being gone on the Juice

This is why I recommend good mechanical type guages over guages manipulted through elctronic boxes. You probably have a bad Attitude unit.

I think it's your probe. I'm not sure about the Juice but most of the temp probes I deal with here at work when failed, they will read max temp which will set off the high temp alarms. This lets you know the probe has failed. It's what we call fail safe.

Good luck.

I agree with everyone else..in that if it happened JUST LIKE THAT,,no hard acceleration up a hill or anything,,probably not really an EGT issue.... I do have one other question,,, HOW THE HE!! Did you use this feature?

I don't think your truck could generate 2100°. It is probably a bad J/A. 2100° is probably the top of the range and is probably caused by a bad or going bad controller in the Attitude. I would drive it.

lean on fuel can cause high EGT

[/ QUOTE ] Not in a diesel. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Low (lean) fuel makes for lower EGT in a diesel, the opposite of a gasoline engine. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif

lean on fuel can cause high EGT...

Not on a diesel...diesels get colder EGTs when Lean and hotter EGT's when more fuel is added. Diesels and Gassers are the complet opposite of each other when it comes to temps.

Update fellas
Ok i called edge first thing this morning and they told me to check the probe with a Ohm meter and that it should read 1.5 - 3.0 ohms , i went to ford and asked them to check the probe first and when we put the OHM meter on the red and yellow lead .6 ohms BINGO bad probe , so i called edge again and they said they would send me a new probe . Well i was heading through Ogden Utah on the way home so i told them i would stop off and they said no problem they are gonna fix and check it all .. so i drove all day with the EGT probe disconnected from the box and now im in ANOTHER Holiday in express waiting on tommorow to head over to edge .... thanks for all the info guys

P.S. someone asked how i used the onstar feature , well i also own a chevrolet corvette and a chevrolet tahoe , once you pay your annual $300 a year you are a member no matter what vehicle you are in .... just used the cell phone and 1-888-4-onstar ...i wish ford would take on something like onstar ... it really is a great feature
