Your MAP shouldn't get soot in it, unless you have modded it to read pressure from the exhaust instead of the intake. The EBPS can get clogged with soot however. If you think the MAP is bad, unplug the electrical plug to it. This will cause a CEL light but it will run. If it runs much better, then the MAP is bad. If your EBPS is bad it could be a clogged tube...carb cleaner and a stiff wire can clean it, but it is easier to just get a SP Diesel EBPS elimator.
