Re: no reverse on my trans what a shocker.

The Factory Ford "heavy duty trans" was just installed in a buddy's truck. His family owns a local Ford dealer and he works there as a Ford motorsport parts man. He installed the trans at the dealer and the trans comes with a warrenty. He has only put a few miles on it and said the trans has made a big diffrence compared to his stock trans. He has also contacted Dp tuner for a chip for his truck and Jody is working with him since this is the first truck he has burned a chip that has the Heavy duty Ford trans in it. I have no detailed info on the trans, but i now its a brand new unit (not remain) and has increased clutch packs, heavy duty converter and internals..thats all i know.

Anyone have thhe part number for the HD Tranny from Ford?

[/ QUOTE ]

I believe this is the number (6U2Z-7V000-LRM TRM-1622). This is for a 2000 , not sure about other years. I wish the dealer would have offered me this one over the one I recently purchased which was (F81Z-7V000-LBRM). Or better yet I wish I would have known about BTS since the dealer charged me about the same as a BTS!

So if I get one of these new HD trans should I still use my Transcommand or go back to stock? I'm not high Hp, just +60hp with the Supperchips tunner.
I'd ditch the transvestite command. Get a DP-Tuner and a BTS VB.

I'd get a BTS trans since it is the last one you are paying for. His warranty is light years ahead of Ford. You can have him ship it to you and anybody can install it.

Comercial Use

I went with the 4r100 HD about 1200 miles ago.....seems great so far but time will tell. The biggest thing for me was price and warranty. I am a lanscaper, I do a lot of pulling gravel, rocks, and dirt. I pull about 15,000lbs at least 3 times a week. I also push snow.....which is terrible on a trans. (I put 6000 miles on last winter pushing snow) The ford HD came with 3 year/75000 and also covered comercial use....no other warranty I could find would cover me pushing snow or comercial use. I paid $3800 installed including a new cooler. Only Time will tell but I know Im covered if it does fail. 1st trans made it to 237,000 miles, still shifted fine but started to leak when pulling a trailer.

BTS doesn't care why it broke. IIRC, he even warrantied somebody for snow plowing. His warranty is as long as you own the truck. Even if you mod the hell out if it, he fixes it, no questions asked. $4100

Hope he knows he just voided his warantee, If Ford knows
he chipped it and something happens he is buying another
one. Brian could care less....
Do the math as long as that tranny last (Forever) then
you have saved money. But...........If it dont and and there
is a good chance it wont. Then you have just bought 1 1/2
BTS trannies. For me it was a no brainer. I just feel if ford
couldnt get it right the first time, I wasnt rewarding them
a second time by buying another tranny. I have drove a
truck with the Ford reman tranny in it with a load behind
it and I was not imperssed........................At all with its
performance.
