I was rear ended yesterday (my truck that is).My bumper and hitch are wasted. Anyone know what class hitch comes with the tow package and who makes the hitch? There is a Ford sticker on it but I doubt Ford makes hitches. I want to make sure the new hitch doesn't interfere with the spare tire. The Nissan Sentra that hit me was totalled and the driver was taken away in an ambulance. I feel very safe in my Super Duty! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

I run a Valley or Reese hitch it fits the STOCK spare nothing larger as it flanges inside the frame and bends out at the top. The max I found was a 10K hitch. The 05 stock hitch is the Ford superhitch and it is a 12.5K hitch. I think the 10K is plenty but you can look around for a 12.5K. The Ford is a dealer only hitch. The Ford fits better, my Valley hit the 7 way connector and I had to customize it. The Ford hitch bends inward at the top flange so it has another 2" for spare tire.

I have a stock 05 2.5 inch hitch, with adapter for the 2 inch, all ford parts including bolts, never used, i took it off the day i bought the truck, PM me if interested, $200 + shipping

i looked at an new 06 350 the other day and the hitch was rated at 15,000 lbs. it has the big reciever and needs the adapter for regular size plugs.
