I think that is part of a solenoid.

That's the part that holds the electric whindings inside the body of the solenoid. It's crimped in place. I hope it's from one that you replaced.

I took a good hard look at the solenoids and it didn't seem like that piece was part of any of them.

It's actually the restrictor cover that goes on top of the Direct Center Support Bolt. This adds a little restriction to the passage for the direct clutch. The service replacement is a bolt with the restrictor built into the bolt.
