Hi there,

I've installed a Bulletproof Oil Cooler/EGR Cooler System thanks to all the great help from this forum. I'm almost done, but I need just a bit more help. I've put oil in the motor, but now I need to prime it through the engine without startup. I know I read it somewhere on how to do it, but now I can't find it in a search.

If there is something to disconnect to do this, can you let me know how and where this part is?

Thanks!

Are you worried that you wont have an oil in the engine?? If so dont be, there is plenty of oil left. Just make sure you have some strong batteries. Sometimes you have to crank for a while to get all the air out before it will start. Once it does dont be alarmed if it run kinda rough. It takes a while for all air to clear out.

Thanks for your help, guys. Yea, I was worried that there wouldn't be oil throughout the engine so I didn't want to start it dry. Cranked it over a few times then it started up. THIS TRUCK HASN'T BEEN RUNNING FOR 2 YEARS!!!!!! You can't have any idea how great it is for me to hear that motor run!!!!

Now I can hear a hiss while it's running so I'm thinking it is some kind of exhaust leak because I probably didn't tighten something down tight enough, and there is some white exhaust smoke. Maybe heads? I hope not.:worried:

Glad you got it started OK. Saw on a youtube video a Ford mechanic filling the engine with oil through the oil filter housing after an oil cooler/egr cooler replace. Said that way, everything was full of oil from the get-go. On the video, the truck started right up. I've not had any experience doing this, but thought it was something to keep in mind.

Did you figure out the "hiss"?

My truck fired up after a new OE oil cooler was installed. It idled for a few seconds then died...
