Do any of the sponsors of this site sell the 6.0 transmission cooler? I do not want to buy one from the dealership and would much rather send them the money. I have left a message at powerstrokeshop.com, but have not heard back from them.

Two weeks ago I posted about my increased trans temperatures after some upgrades. I have looked at all of the coolers and have settled on the 6.0. While I am at it I plan to put in the Dieselsite Filter kit as well. I am assuming this mitigates the need for the Magnafine or am I mistaken? Is there any added benefit to the larger transmisson pan? I see mixed information about that.

Eventually I will have the cash for a new tranny, but for now is there anything else I can do to keep it cool?

Thanks for your help.

If you are going to purchase the dieselsite filter kit...get the tru-cool max from Bob as well. Its the same as the 6oh. Bolt it in series with your stock cooler...and call it good. Thats what I did.

Thanks for the response. Is the tru-cool max the same size as the 6.0? It looks a fair bit smaller. I do like the price however.

BWD has a kit I got mine for 100 shipped on ebay... The kit from BWD has all the bits and pieces to install it.

A buddy of mine works for a food service, service company and had lots of SS tubing bits to work with.

Yes. I was told that Ford takes the Tru-Cool and adapts their own brackets to it so it will bolt up. Otherwise...yep the same. You can see in my pictures how I bolted mine in.

No, It's about half the size as the small 6.0 cooler and less than half the size of the large one.

The Tru Cool Max is a 13 row cooler. The 6.0 is either a 25 or a 31 row.

Thanks for the input guys. I see that Black Widow has a kit but it says that it can only be ordered with a transmission. I have emailed them to find out for sure. I like the idea of have 25 or 31 rows of cooling for sure. I haved looked on Ebay but they must come and go very quickly. There are none on there right now.

beat me to it BWD had one...
I didn't know tranny coolers cost so much.

The only problem I see with adding a cooler in series is ...when you buy a bts tranny or any other one , usually they want the tranny cooler replaced as well

Yep...your right 444D. I was thinking the V10 cooler which is the same size as the tru-cool max. Sucks to get old.

I went that route - added a tru-cool max in series with the stock unit and it was OK. Replaced both coolers with the 6.0 and it was a great improvement and much better arrangment. Should have used the 6.0 in the first place. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

FYI

5C3Z-7A095-CA is the 31 row cooler

5C3Z-7A095-CB is the 25 row cooler

After countless hours trying to find out which one was which I resorted to looking at pictures online and calling wrecking yards. The CA is the 31 row and the CB is the 25. If you are looking for a good price for a used part try car-part.com this is a national data base of salvaged parts. Search your vehicle F250 1999 newer Superduty and when it asks for parts select "Auto Trans Cooler". Search all areas and enter your zipcode. Next select 2005 - 2007 and pick F250 and similar vehicles. This will allow you to search F350's as well. It will also list f150's but you are looking for a 6.0 so it will be easy to find. I picked one up this week from Ricks Auto Parts for $85 deliverd. 800-245-5588. The guy there was real patient, he actually went out and searched for the part number on the cooler. When the part # was differnt (it had a 4 instead of the Z) He actually went out and counted the rows for me. I still havent figured out why there is a 4 instead of the Z but it came out of an 05 f250 that was totalled. Maybe the Z is scrathed off and looks like a 4, who knows. Rick said he had 2 of them. Another place that had the 31 row version was Crosstown Auto Parts 204-222-0999 They wanted $125 but still cheaper than ebay. If you don't want to make the conversion lines yourself Brian's Truck Shop has a premade kit 870-422-3673. I ordered a valve body at the same time, I figured if I was draining it I might as well go for the BTS valve body too. I am also doing the 6.0 intercooler and you can find those on ebay pretty easily or car-part.com. Diesel power products has the intercooler hoses you will need. There is a link on dieselpowerproducts.com called the ford intercooler swap that explains it. Hope this helps...AJ
