new 7.3l

I have almost 500k miles on my 2002 ex, starting to get tired. have decided to prepare to replace the engine when needed. any comments on crate motor, or rebuild? also looking for a good shop in northern California, and the northern Nevada area that will do good work. always garage kept, new trucks cost way too much and they don't build anything like the excursion. thanks Bob
