Which one have you guys had the best luck with? I heard pretty good stuff from the Edge side...couple friends have them, nothing from the SCT products. Or what is your guys's suggestions for better fuel economy with some added power on an 05 F250 Crew Cab 4x4?

Thanks

I know that the SCT will be very powerful with custom tuning and transmission shifting awesome with the SCT. I had an older Edge product, transmission shifting was not there on the higher levels of power. Fuel economy with SCT is good. It really varies on how you are driving. You are not going to be able to get better fuel economy with ANY product by dogging it all the time. The best way to get better fuel economy is drive sensible. BUT, NOW, Can I do that with the POWER!!!!! Probably NOT! I have custom tunes from Innovative Diesel and they have great customer service so give them a call and they will sell you a new truck==SCT TUNER WITH EXTREME TUNES!

You haven't heard anything about SCT? Do a search and you will find numerous postings about SCT, probably 20 or so in the past month...

There both reliable and work good, it all depends on what you want out of your truck. You need to make a list of things you want ot inprove and decide from that list. If you want extreme HP then SCT if you want ease of use and on the fly adjustablity then go with edge. Plus with edge you get guages and auto back down. WHen you run SCT on extreme the longevity of friction parts is reduced.

I don't believe the new Evolution has on the fly adjustability. That feature is only on the Juice variants (modules), which are completely different animals than either version of the Evolution (programmers).

The new Evolution appears to be very similar in design/features to the new SCT Livewire. The major difference appears to be the ability to custom tune the SCT, although I understand there is at least one company that is now capable of custom tuning the new Evolution as well.....

The edge does have 3 shift on the fly power levels. Its updateable via the internet also. Its a attitude monitor thats programed to work continuously through the OBDII port. It comes with a mount also.

I put one in my brothers 05 and he cant stop talking about it. Improved power over the old evolution and better milage.

I know it has 3 power levels, and looks like an Attitude monitor. I also know you can update it via the internet. But has your brother actually tried shifting from one program to the other "on the fly"?? In reading the user manual for the new Evolution, it doesn't say you can change power levels on the fly. In fact, it says you have to shut the truck off to load a program (which would make shifting on the fly dangerous! LOL).... If it really can shift on the fly, this will be a huge change from all other programmers on the market.......

I just installed an Evolution II on my 2006 truck.
You have to shut the engine off to change the program. No option for on the fly programing.

It's a tuner not a chip. You can change the speedo for tire sizes, eliminate the top speed, all the typical stuff of a programer.

It does have 3 programs, Economy, Tow and Performance.

As I understand it, The parent company that owns Superchips also owns Edge now. The rumur that I've been told is that the tunes are pretty much the same.

The one downside, their housing to mount the display on the dash, DOES NOT fit a King Ranch. It does fit all the other dashboards. Edge claims a new housing for the King Ranch will be out in 30 days.

I bought Edge because it is a local company, So if my dealer can't address any problems, I can drive over to Edge offices in 20 minutes and talk to a live body. I don't intend to ever use anything more than the tow program. As I have 5,000lb to 16,000lb trailers hooked up to my truck almost daily. So maximum horse power or race programs are waste of time to me. I mostly wanted the Pyro with a minor bump in horsepower.

Sorry, your right about the shift on the fly. I still think for the money edge is the way to go. Sorry to hear that Superchips bought them out. Does anyone know if thats true or not?
