Started off my buddy pulls up with 2000, we pull the ad's swap in some stage 1 singles. Go through the normal top off resovoir and check rails for oil. But just won't start. Killed the batteries. Hook up the jumpers and AE takes for ever to reach 180 psi at 64% duty. Finally refill resovoir several more times and boom 600 psi at 30-40%. But injectors won't fire. Don't even sound like they are trying ( clicking). Im more familar with the OBS injctor swaps, is there something i'm missing forgetting on SD's??? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

Update: Just went out and checked the resovoir and rails again. Nearly bone dry, AGAIN!!!!

I am guessing the engine is turning over and that you drained the fuel/oil from the cylinders so the engine did not hydrolock. Singles will need less oil than the splitshots. May still be air in the oil lines to the injectors. It will run but not properly with splitshot programming so I doubt it is your program. Keep cranking ?/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

You are correct on all.

I'm baffled why the resovoir keeps coming up empty??

We cranked on this sob for like 3 hours yesterday. We have a fresh charge on the batteries today, but without oil in the rails and resovoir, it an't ganna fire /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

I am open to any and all suggestions and help at this point.

THANKS /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif

have you done a BUZZ test?

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes, everyone sounds good.

Pulled a couple solenoids and clearances are good, none appear hung open.

The oil is one thing, but i just don't hear the injectors cycling(trying to fire). /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

Keep the ideas coming, i'm sure i must have missed something.

[/ QUOTE ]Sounds like the check valve is stuck open and the HPOP cannot maintain an adequate fill of oil?

u didnt leave the little plugs out of the oil rail in the heads?

Have you tried firing it up with the valve covers off to see if any oil is squirting where itshouldnt be?

[/ QUOTE ]

All plugs are tight and in place. Pulled one to see if oil was coming out yesterday. And had oil pumping out. But that was after the many reservoir refills. Theres nothing in there is morning. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

Valave covers never go back on, untill running. For reasons just like this.

Well, i didn't fill reservoir since the last cranking event, so..

I'll check the fuel filter reservoir for oil.

Thats what i was thinking, you may have cut an oring. Also check make sure all the injectors are fully seated.Did you happen to look at the old injectors to make sure all the copper seals are on them and not still in the engine

Tim heres the funny thing. Even with no oil being fed to the reservoir if you fill it manually it will fire and run for about 30 seconds on that alone, after refilling it several times. Fill the resevoir up and crank it a few times then pull the oil pressure sensor off and crank more of course yelling at the driver to stop when it starts the "ol' faithfull"

That will tell you if your even getting oil up there. Im sure youve done this already but double check the connections at the VC harness.

the only thing that makes sence would be the check valve not getting me any oil to feed them.

As for the electronics at this point /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

Got to go to church before the wife kills me so i'll check back after then.

Cat, if your bored this afternoon /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif give me a call.

I'm not positive but heard that a bad o-ring on the IPR can cause a no start and drain the reservoir. Although I thought there is a check valve to prevent this. It does sound oil related.

Sounds like a cut o-ring or one not seated. When I do injector swaps I do one bank and give a spin or so manually on the front crank bolt. Do the other bank the same way. Then leave the UVC unplugged and spin over a few times before ever trying to start. Then plug the UVC's back in and they fire off. Take it out for a good drive until she don't blow any white smoke.

Maybe you got trash from an o-ring on install and its stuck in the ipr valve. It would never build pressure, and it may cause the drain back. You didnt by any chance drain the crank case oil and forget to fill it back up did you??....lol...stranger things have happened ....to me anyway. Like 15 qts of new oil getting drained into the same already full pan that the old oil was drained into.

Thanks for all the ideas. I think most i have checked.

UPDATE: After finding the reservoir not staying full i removed the checkball in block and found some crud in there. Then the reservoir began to hold oil. still no fire. After a new set of batteries found the reservoir not hold oil again /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Pulled checkball AGAIN. AE on the laptop showed 180psi max icp with 64% duty cycle and only 175rpms max at cranking. Did get a small amount of white smoke from the tailpipe, but then nothing again and reservoir dry AGAIN???

So whats up?? checkball, lpop???

How to tell?
