since you have to crank like hell when you put a new pump in.. should you put any fuel or prime it in any way before your first crank.. it seem with a new pump with no fuel your cranking alot of metal with no lube..

Austin,
Just have someone open the schrader valve on the filter housing while you crank. It should pop in 10-20 seconds. I wouldn't worry about the dry cycling- I assume the rebuilder will lube ctritical parts prior to assembly as the close tolerances would lend themselves to cold welding if assembled dry. Maybe Ken is looking?

Nope no need, just crack all 8 injector lines and disconnect power to the GP relay and crank her over till fuel begings to weep out. Not more that 15 seconds to a time and give the starter plenty of rest time in between as to not burn it out. Open the throttle up when cranking will help allow the air to escape. Should only take a cycle or two with good fuel delivery.
