Well first off I would like to say hi to everyone on this site. Just picked up my first diesel powered truck. It's a 2008 Super Duty 6.4 super cab with the lariat package and 5sp auto. Traded in my 06 F150 5.4. My son is a diesel tech for Ford and he just finished training on the 6.4 at Ford's school in Buffalo NY. He wouldn't let me get the 6.0 because of the problems with the engine, but says that the 6.4 is going to be a much better design. Hope he is right caus I'm into this one for the long haul. I was getting about 15MPG with my 5.4 gas engine and the 6.4 with about 200mi on it is getting 13.5 around town already. It should do better after breakin. Im impressed since the F250 is about 1.5K heavier then the 150. You gotta listen real close to tell it's a diesel and it has power to spare. By the way, please keep us informed if your son hears of any interesting information about future Ford fixes/recalls, etc. for some of the 6.4L issues discussed on this forum -- e.g. power loss, excessive regens, etc. I'm just about ready to buy a new truck myself.
