Hey guys, been reading through posts for a little bit now. Impressive sight.

My 2001 F350, 135k, factory everything on motor, has started dying on me while driving. Usually around idle or slowing/stopping. Fuel filter new, been through many tanks of diesel so know it is good.

This started about 3 months ago when I exited the highway coming up to a stop sign. Over the last couple of weeks it seems to progressively be getting worse.

From the searching I did on here, it seems like the CPS might be the problem. Before going to the Ford house tomorrow and picking up a new CPS, are there any other thoughts?

The only other problem I have ever had with the pickup is the high pressure oil pump, which was still under warranty at the time. I did replace my front hub assemblies about 15k miles ago. Been a great pickup so far, but this dying thing really sucks.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Chris

Mine was doing the same. Dieing at stops and shuddering momentarily while driving down the freeway. Bad CPS. Runs great with the new one.

I had no idea what was wrong. Took it to the Ford garage. They fixed for just under $300. Learned later after reading posts on this site I could have fixed it myself for about $75.

Good luck.

It sure sounds like the CPS. Go to Ford and buy the new model Cps ($30 or less) not the old model ($180).

Buy two and throw one in the glove box.

Look here for good instructions with pics. None included for the spare in the glovebox though. LOL

I'll pick it up tomorrow and give an update afterwards. After browsing around the site I see there are lots of tidbits I can pick up on.
