Roughly since the server problems you had the other day, the new posts flag has not been working for me. They are always on. I have tried clearing my local caches, etc. But no luck. Just FYI.

BTW, thanks for providing us with this site, it is incredible. I have learned so much in the past few weeks! I'm even more excited about my truck now than I was when I ordered it. Now if I could only get this damn pyro question resolved

You need to go to "preferences" and click on the link to delete all cookies. This will fix it up for you. Just make sure you also reset your preferences afterward. It will prompt you to do so.

You might try resetting it again using the Delete all cookies option in Preferences. Cookies are a strange deal to get working correctly sometimes.

I've been having the same problem with the "flags". I've gone and reset the cookies multiple times along with clearing out the disc cach and temp files. Is there anything else I can do to try and get the lights and flags working right again? It's a real pain to try and rember where I left off and track the times of the posts. Plus the times on the posts are still way off.

I think the post times are right now. Remember that I'm in Eastern Daylight Time right now. This post should show up as being around 6:50 or so. As far as the cookies, I have had to go in and manually edit mine before. I use Netscape, but don't know the procedure for IE. If you use Netscape, let me know.

Let's see if we can narrow this down a little. If the folders and light bulbs aren't working right for you, first try this:
<UL TYPE=SQUARE>
<LI>Click on the Preferences link at the top of the Forums page
<LI>Click on the link at the end of the first paragraph to "Click here to delete all cookies set by this forum!"
<LI>Go back to the Preferences page and tell it store your username and password for a year and set the number of days to display topics
<LI>Click on the Forums graphic at the top of the page.
<LI>Click on the Forums graphic at the top of the page again.
<LI>All the lightbulbs should go out and it should tell you when you last visited.

If this doesn't work, post the browser type and version that you are using (like IE 4.0, Netscape 4.61, etc).

I tried that just before logging off and went and again cleaned out every catch and file with cookies and temp files I coud find. Upon logging on their was no lightbulbs at all.

I went back through and did the Preferences thing again and then the lightbulbs showed up . Think everything is back to normal finally!!! Think what threw me off with the time was the 0 in front of the time. To me that normally means AM.

FYI we are using Netscape Communicator 4.6

I have the same problem. I use netscape communicator 4.6.

Went through your steps above several times. Nothing is being reset. Light bulbs do not go out.

I don't know how familiar you are with computers, but here is what you need to do:

<UL TYPE=SQUARE>
<LI>Make sure Netscape isn't running
<LI>Click on Start, then Find, then Files or Folders
<LI>Type in cookies.txt in the Named box and make sure Look In is set to C:
<LI>It should find one in something like C:\Program Files\Netscape\Communicator\jlester
<LI>Double-click on the file to open it in your default editor
<LI>Look for any line that has ford-diesel.com in it. There may be several. Delete all lines with ford-diesel.com. Make sure to delete the entire line, but none of the other lines around it.
<LI>Save the file and exit
<LI>Startup Netscape, go to my Forums page, click the Preferences link and reset your preferences.
